When I first started my business as a personal stylist, I believed in the power of style — but I didn’t believe in myself as a stylist. And that almost completely stalled everything.
How Style Became My Creative Outlet
I became a stylist after using style as a way to feel better about my life. I had been ill and couldn’t physically do the things that used to bring me joy, so I turned to dressing in a way that made me feel alive.
It was around the time when boho was a big trend, and as an (unknowing) Romantic/Boho Style Personality, clothes became my creative outlet. They helped me so much that I wanted to share that knowledge with others. I’ve always been someone who loves to teach what I’ve learned — so becoming a personal stylist felt like a natural next step.
The Struggle: Believing in Myself
The trouble was, while I believed in the power of style, I didn’t yet believe in myself as a stylist. I thought that if I built a beautiful website and waited long enough, clients would magically appear.
Spoiler alert… they didn’t!
I was hiding behind my laptop, afraid to tell anyone what I did. I had the skills, the passion, and the training, but I didn’t have the confidence to put myself out there.
The Shift: Confidence Changes Everything
Once I started working on myself, building my confidence, and truly believing in my worth, everything shifted. The difference wasn’t about working harder — it was about showing up and being seen.
There’s so much power in believing in what you’re putting out into the world. You’ve got to believe in yourself, your service, and your business before anyone else can.
And it’s not just me saying this — the women I’ve worked with have experienced the same transformation:
“At the start, I was scared of putting myself out there on social media. I had no idea how to communicate my value. But after working with Emma, my confidence has skyrocketed. I’m now showing up, talking about my business, and I got paying clients months sooner than I expected.” — Rebecca Ffrancon, Personal Stylist
“Emma helped me gain confidence in myself and my business. I’m now attracting clients as a business coach, talking about my work with passion, and I feel unstoppable!” — Fay Blakey, Business Coach
“I discovered Emma at the start of my business when I felt lost and overwhelmed. I had ideas but no clarity. Now, my self-doubt is gone, I know my ideal client, and I have the confidence to close sales calls with ease.” — Jo Robertson, Hair Education Director”
Confidence isn’t just about feeling good — it’s about showing up, taking action, and letting your business reflect your value. Every time my clients gain clarity and confidence, they step into opportunities they didn’t even know existed.
““From just 4 sessions with Emma, I revised my pricing, got 3 new clients, and my whole outlook on money and my business completely changed.” — Liz Seaton, Personal Stylist
“After working with Emma, I feel focused, energised, and confident that I can achieve everything I want in my business this year.” — Joy Gregory, Personal Stylist”
Why Belief Matters More Than Skills
Skills and knowledge are vital, yes. But without self-belief, those skills won’t reach their full potential. Confidence is what turns:
A website into a representation of your expertise
Your offer into something you feel proud of
Your dream into a business you can show up for
Belief is contagious. When you truly believe in your value, others feel it too.
